It takes only an instant to know my next painting.  I may have to back up the car, or retreat somehow to get that shot, but I know my painting has begun.

My favorite method of painting begins by capturing the atmosphere by pouring and throwing paint.  It's a very fluid, moving and magical start.  I then bring images into focus at varying levels of completion depending on my whim.

When I'm not painting, or find myself in the "watercolor desert" (a dry spell akin to writer's block), I'm still painting in my mind.  Subsumed by my surroundings whether it be in the garden, walking, or visiting a new place, the awareness that comes with painting is always with me.

My artwork is on display at Artworks Around Town in the Historic Center Market District of Wheeling, WV and at the Latrobe Art Center in Latrobe, PA.  Each year I travel to a different country with a French based group, Journees de Peinture Internationals for a week of plein aire painting which culminates with an internationally represented show.  I'm a juried member of the West Virginia Watercolor Society, the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society and teach workshops at the McMurray Art League, at Artworks, and other venues on request.
